The football team had another 2 and a half hour road trip as they drove out to play Warren High School on Friday.

The Sentinels found themselves down 6-0 with just under 2 minutes left and 80 yards to go on the final drive. On 3rd and 20, with the odds stacked against them, Senior Quarterback Gavin Carr connected on a 25-yard completion to Mason Pardy to give the team new life. On the very next play Gavin completed a pass to Mike Thompson for a 50 yard gain which moved the team inside the 5-yard line with under a minute to play. Finally, on 4th and 1 from the 1-yard line, Gavin Carr was able to punch in a touchdown to tie the game with 17 seconds left! Senior kicker Hadi Hammedeh kicked the extra point to give Westmont a 7-6 lead which would go on to be the final score.

With this win, the football team moved to 5-3 on the season and secured a winning record for only the 6th time in school history!

The Sentinels have a home game this Friday against Burlington Central for Senior Night! If we win this game we will make the playoffs for the first time since 2006, so we NEED everyone to come out and support the team and help say goodbye to all of our Fall Senior athletes.

Thank you for all of the support so far this season and GO, SENTINELS,

The Cross Country teams returned to Lisle's Community Park for the Interstate 8 Conference Championship on Saturday. On a crisp Saturday morning, the girls' team finished in third place, just ten points behind second as every runner on the team stepped up to help the Sentinels post another strong finish. Special congratulations to Mikayla Hickey who earned All-Conference honors by virtue of her 10th place finish.

In the boys' race, the Sentinels ran another strong race to earn a second place finish at Conference. Every runner contributed to the excellent team finish for the Sentinels. Special congratulations to Matt Gedraitis, Matt Torres, and Dominic Santore who each earned All-Conference honors, finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 8th, respectively.

The Sentinels will return to Lisle this Saturday for the IHSA Regional.

There will be an open gym for Girls Basketball tomorrow from 4:30 - 6 pm in the gym! Any girls who are interested in playing basketball this winter should be present to meet the new coach and to start getting ready for the season. See you there!

Tryouts for Basketball Season Cheerleading will be October 23rd from 6-8:00 pm in the gym. Come join a fun squad! See you there!

The sophomore volleyball team had a showdown with the Manteno Panthers, the other undefeated team in the conference. The Sentinels got out to a slow start and had to fight back from a 3-9 deficit in the first set.  A service run by Kathleen Zielinski and Julia Cain closed the gap, but the team fell short, losing 21-25.  In the second set, the Sentinels reset and came out strong led by strong serving from Zielinski and dominate attacking from Barkan and Thompson.  The Sentinels held strong,g winning 25-16; setting the stage for the all-deciding third set.  The third set was evenly matched all the way to the end, the Sentinels had a commanding lead at 21-18, but Manteno pushed back 24-22, the Sentinels delivered to tie it up 24-24, but eventually fell 26-24.  Barkan finished with 12 kills, and Thompson finished with 10 kills.  A great effort by all.

Another great night at the volleyball!  All three teams played very competitive matches against the top-ranked team in the conference - Manteno.  After a tough start, losing 13-25 in set one,  the roar of the crowd affected the Panthers, and Sentinels bounced back to win set 2 25-21.  The final set proved to be a battle, where Manteno finally ended the match with a 25-22 win.  We are so thankful for our very enthusiastic and energetic fan section - always inspiring and always appreciated!!

A big event on Thursday, 10/11, beginning at 5:00 - as Westmont Volleyball takes on Walther Christian for the 10th annual Volley for Cure Event!

The boys' golf team ended their season last night with an 8th place finish at the Oregon Sectional. The entire team played great and Tyler Cunningham missed going down state by one stroke with an 83. Despite suffering an ankle injury Kyle Nguyen hobbled in with an 89. Also playing great golf were:
    Caden Anderson (98)
    Nick Charlton (99)
    Luke Gifford (107)

Tryouts for Basketball Season Cheerleading will be October 23rd from 6-8:00 pm in the gym. Come join a fun squad! See you there!

This year, the team has plans to create “encouragement packages” for local patients in treatment at Hinsdale Hospital Open Arms Foundation. The care packages will include hand lotion, hand sanitizer, pretzels or crackers, gum or mints, tea bags, mouthwash, lemon drops, travel tissues, and small notebooks. We are asking for donations of new, unused items to donate to this project that will benefit patients in our community. Donation boxes will be set out at each school in the district at the front office.  We hope to see you all at the game dressed in pink and we appreciate your support and donations for this worthy cause!!

Thank you and have a great day.
