ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

 

General

Any student who plans to take an AP test this year MUST register for their exam before October 15.  Late fees will apply for registering after the deadline. Check with any AP teacher for the join codes.  If you have questions or need assistance please see Mr. Finlayson or Kappy for help.

Westmont High School will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 13th from 8:00-12 pm at Westmont High School. The PSAT/NMSQT can qualify participating junior students for scholarships, including the National Merit Scholar Program. Interested sophomores may choose to take this exam as a practice. In general, students who score in the top 1% in the nation on the PSAT/NMSQT are deemed Semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Sophomore and juniors will still be provided several practice SAT opportunities throughout the year, this exam is only for those juniors who wish to compete for the National Merit Scholarship. All interested students should sign up with Ms. Grahn in the main office with a $20 fee before Friday, October 8th. Cash or check made out to Westmont High School will be accepted, spots are limited.

There is a mandatory NHS meeting this Friday at 7:30 in the Auditorium.  Service Project proposals are also due on Friday.  Look in our Google Classroom for more information and the From to use for submission.  Email or see Mrs. Templeton with any questions.
 

Clubs

Rotary Interact If you were unable to make the Rotary Interact meeting this morning, please stop in room 125 to get caught up on all the latest happenings. 

Spanish Club New and returning members are invited to join The Spanish club at our next meeting.  We will meet tomorrow morning, September 30th at 7:30 am in Señorita´s room, room 125.  Come learn about Guatemalan worry dolls -and make your very own Guatemalan worry doll!  See you this Thursday morning in room 125 for Spanish Club. 

Athletics

Any athlete interested in joining wrestling!  There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 6 at 2:45 in the wrestling balcony.  You must have your 8 to 18 registration completed and a current physical on file

There will be a meeting for any girl interested in joining the girls basketball team on Thursday, September 30 at 6:00 p.m. in the Driver's Ed Room.  Open gyms will begin in October. If you cannot make the meeting, please stop by Kappy's office to sign up. 

Tryout for the Basketball Cheer Squad will be on October 7.  Contact Coach Meneses for more information.  

The Sentinel Cross Country teams hosted Lisle and Plano last night for their final home meet. The Sentinels turned in outstanding races, setting several career-best times on the home course! The girls' team of Lizzy Szynal, Mikayla Hickey, Abby Strohmaier, Annikah Engstrom and Callie Devine swept the first five spots overall in their race to score a perfect 15 points and pick up two wins! In the boys race, Tim Rosland, Henry O'Connor, Kaleb Sica, and Paul Tikhiy took four of the first six places and Quentin Jarlson crushed his PR on the home course by over two minutes to secure the win over Lisle and Plano! Great job, Sentinels!
