General

You must have a parking permit in order to park in the parking lot.  Please see Mrs. Grahn in the front office immediately.

Hey Sentinels, Have you spotted the World's Finest Chocolate sellers yet?   All of your favorites are back and bars are still just $1!  This week our featured seller is Katie Wang.  So, when you see her, buy some chocolate before school, during passing periods, or after school!  

"Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Any student interested in participating and or sharing ideas please come see  Ms. Lopez.

Westmont High School will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 12th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The PSAT/NMSQT can qualify any participating junior student for scholarships, including the National Merit Scholar Program. Interested sophomores may choose to take this exam as a practice. In general, students who score in the top 1% in the nation on the PSAT/NMSQT have been deemed Semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Sophomores and juniors will still be provided several Practice SAT opportunities throughout the year; this exam is just for those juniors who wish to compete for the National Merit Scholarship.
All interested students should sign up with Ms. Grahn in the main office with a $20 fee before Friday, October 7th. Cash or check made out to Westmont High School will be accepted, spots are limited.

This year, prom tickets will be $100. If you missed the first Prom Committee Meeting, please talk with either Mrs. Zorbas or Señorita to learn how to pay less for your prom ticket!  

I’m looking for a few Clue board games for Tuesday afternoon’s fall play rehearsal. If anyone has one they are able to lend, please let me know.

Clubs  

All students are welcome to attend the first meeting of the Westmont Alliance Club TODAY- Tuesday, September 13th After school at 3:00 pm in the Art room The Alliance club is a safe space for all students to socialize, learn about important issues in the LGBTQ community, as well as work to make our communities more welcoming and supportive spaces for all people.  Don’t miss our first meeting on September 13th after school in the art room.

Yearbook Club will hold its first meeting on Thursday, September 15 right after school in the art room. See Mrs. Mahmoud or Ms. Jacobs with questions.

Join us at 7:30 am, Thursday (9/15) in the Media Center for some Sentinel Pride!  We are currently looking for students who would like to plan and participate in activities that promote a positive and kind school culture. Sentinel Pride will meet two times per month. Students can sign-up at any time throughout the year.  Contact Mrs. Torrise or Mrs. Schillinger if you have questions.  Don't forget to bring a friend.

Any Geography Club member that would like to attend the rescheduled Lincoln Park Zoo field trip this Sunday, September 18th can pick up a permission slip in Mr. Landreth's room. Permission slips must be turned in by Thursday, September 15. See Mr. Landreth or Mr. Dunne with any questions.

Athletics

Boys soccer won both games this weekend advancing to the championship game next Sunday. The first game on Saturday was decided in penalty kicks after tying it up last minute. Abe, Martynas, and Valdet scored and Patrick Juricek saved two penalty kicks. The second game was won with 2 goals from Valdet Dalipi. We play the championship game this Sunday, September 18th at Lyons Township complex. Come support!--
