General

You must have a parking permit in order to park in the parking lot.  Please see Mrs. Grahn in the front office immediately

"Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Any student interested in participating and or sharing ideas please come see Ms Lopez.

Are you ready to get back at your teachers? This Monday through Thursday vote for either Dr. Weck, Wojo, Mr. DeLisle, Mr. Finlaysen, or Ms. Lopez to be dunked during Friday’s assembly. Whichever teacher gets the most money in their box gets dunked. Not only do you get to tank the teachers, but you can sink the students at the football game from 6 to 8pm. All money raised is going toward the newly-formed Manning Elementary Sports Development program.

Sophomore and juniors will still be provided several Practice SAT opportunities throughout the year; this exam is just for those juniors who wish to compete for the National Merit Scholarship.
All interested students should sign up with Ms. Grahn in the main office with a $20 fee before Friday, October 7th. Cash or check made out to Westmont High School will be accepted, spots are limited.

Attention all students:  Please make sure you have registered for any AP exams that you want to take by October 15.  See Kappy or Mr. Finlayson if you have any questions.

Travel back to the 70s for this year's Homecoming Dance the theme is Saturday Night Fever! Ticket Sales for the Homecoming 2022 Dance will take place during A and C lunch from today, September 26th through Thursday, October 6th.  If you would like to bring a student from another school you will need to see Mrs. Jacobs or Mrs. VanErden to pick up a form that must be completed and turned in before you can purchase a ticket. Tickets are $20.00 each. 

Are you interested in singing with your friends? Join us every Tuesday and Thursday mornings when you can in the choir room with Mr. Urlaub at 7:30am!

We have a few extra 2021-2022 yearbooks available to purchase. Books are $50 and can be purchased from Mrs. Mahmoud or in the front office.

Clubs -Attention all those interested in Scholastic Bowl - we will have our informational meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, September 27th at 7:40am in Mr. DeMay's room, room 102. Returning players, please bring a friend! Our first practice will be after school on Thursday, September 29th. See Mr. DeMay or Mr. Chamberlain for details.

Stage crew for the fall play (lighting, sound, make-up, costumes, set/props, publicity---in other words, anyone interested in working behind the scenes) will meet on Monday, October 3 right after school in the auditorium. We will distribute schedules and sign up for specific committees then.

Athletics –Only 113 days  until Track and Field.  Will you be ready?

Congratulations to the Cross Country team who finished in 14th place of 32 teams on Saturday. Almost everyone on the team had huge PRs.  Tim Rosland finished in 15th place to lead the team.  Cross Country will host their last home meet - the Westmont 500 tomorrow at 4:30.  Please come out and support the team!

SAVE THE DATE - The volleyball program will be hosting their Senior Night and Volley for a Cure event on October 13th, beginning at 4:30.  More details to come.

 The varsity volleyball team competed in a 12 team tournament on Saturday, finishing 4th overall.  The team played 5 matches, starting the day at 9 a.m. and not finishing until 5:30 p.m.  The Sentinels defeated Rockford East and Latin, coming out of pool play in the top 4 overall.  They played Fenton, a 3A team, in the first round of playoffs, eventually losing 15-25, 25-18 and 19-25.  The Sentinels then lost to Oak Forest, another 3A team, 20-25 and 20-25, finishing 4th overall.  Congratulations to the team on a strong finish!

On Wednesday, 9/28 the Sentinel volleyball teams will be hosting rivals Lisle beginning at 4:30.  Come out to support the Sentinels take on the Lions!
