Parent Update

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

August 24, 2020, is the first day of attendance for students. The hope was that we would be able to welcome our students in our schools and classrooms. Unfortunately, due to the current health conditions, accommodations required by the Illinois Association of Schools Boards, and the Illinois Department of Public Health, the District made the difficult decision to start the year using remote learning.

The pandemic has had an impact on all of us differently. For some of us, it has had little impact on our health or family.  Others may have experienced financial hardship, have the challenge of finding childcare, or emotional or physical suffering. Regardless of how COVID-19 has impacted you and your family, know that CUSD 201 is here to support you in any way we can. Whatever this school year brings, we all need to work together and support one another.

On Monday, August 24, the DuPage County Public Health Department will share metrics with school districts to assist in the decision making of when to have in-person learning versus remote learning. The metrics supplied by the DCPHD will not be the only criteria in our decision making but will add some clarity. I will share the metrics with you next week.

Please know that as a District, we want students in our schools. At the same time, we cannot compromise the health and well-being of our students and staff. We will continue to monitor the pandemic with the goal of resuming in-person instruction.

Please read the entire communication for additional updates.

Remote Learning

Remote learning begins on August 24. Schools have provided additional information to parents. If you have not received this information, please contact your child’s school. The remote learning plan is more rigorous and has greater accountability than last spring. Please use this link to view the plan.
