October 19, 2020

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

On Monday, October 19, 2020, the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) moved DuPage County from the moderate transmission level to substantial transmission. The number of new cases per 100,000 increased from a weekly average of 79 to an average of 115. Also, the positivity rate has risen from 4.5% to 6.0%.  The District has been using the DCHD Return to School Framework to assist us in our decision making.

To ensure our employees’ and students’ health and safety, CUSD 201 will transition to remote learning the week of October 26. The District will remain in remote learning for a minimum of two weeks. During this time, the District will continue to monitor the metrics and our hybrid plan to determine when to resume in-person learning.

Parents will receive additional information from their child’s school with regards to the master schedule. Information regarding the attendance of small groups will also be shared at a later date.

Please know that this decision is not an easy one to make. We all want to have the students attend in-person.

Take care,

Kevin Carey

Superintendent
