November 24, 2020

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

On behalf of the CUSD 201 Board of Education and staff, have a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving. Even during this challenging time, we are thankful for so many things. One is the ability to work with so many wonderful students and families.

The DCHD School Metrics, posted earlier this week, shows five of the six metrics continue to be at a substantial transmission level. Our local community’s seven-day positivity rate shows Westmont at 8.41%, Hinsdale at 9.26%, Downers Grove at 14.59%, and Clarendon Hills at 9.43%.

The DuPage County Health Department has opened a second drive-up COVID-19 testing site in Villa Park. Information regarding free testing through the DCHD can be found at this link DCHD COVID-19 Testing.

Each week there is promising progress reported on the development of a COVID-19 vaccine. A vaccine offers us the best solution to beating COVID-19 and returning to our normal way of life. Once available, it will be necessary for people to get vaccinated. If you have questions about the U.S vaccination plans, here is a link for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that has some helpful information (COVID-19 Vaccine).

The two weeks after Thanksgiving will be 100% remote (no small groups) to build in a two-week quarantine period after the holiday. Here is a link to a calendar that will make it easier for parents to visualize the next several weeks of the school year. Calendar for November 16 through January 19

The District is targeting the week of January 19  to return to Hybrid Learning, pending the DuPage County Health Department school metrics.

Please read the entire communication for additional updates.

Hybrid Learning-Suspended
The District is suspending hybrid learning until January 19, 2021.

Meal pick-up is on Monday, November 30, 2020, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Westmont Junior High.

Meals are available free of charge to CUSD 201 families for children 18 and younger.

Parents will be given seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch.   Please use the drive off Oakwood in front of the Junior High School.  You do not need to exit your car; the food will be brought to you.  If you are unable to come to the Junior High at the designated time, please call 630-468-8121.

I hope you and your family enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday. If you and your family travel over the long weekend or celebrate with extended family and friends, you may want to consider quarantining or isolating yourself from others following the Holiday.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
