Parent Update December 4th

December 4, 2020

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

I hope you and your family had an enjoyable Thanksgiving Holiday. The DCHD School Metrics, posted earlier this week, indicated an improvement over the prior week; however, four of the six metrics are in a substantial transmission level.

If the seven-day positivity rate is any indication, there will probably be a post-Thanksgiving increase in transmission over the next couple of weeks. At the beginning of the week, Westmont’s positivity was 7.47% and is currently at 8.53%. Our local community’s seven-day positivity rate shows Hinsdale at 8.57%, Downers Grove at 8.06%, and Clarendon Hills at 11.19%.

Next week, the District will be 100% remote, with no small groups. Here is a link to a calendar that will make it easier for parents to visualize the next several weeks of the school year. Calendar for November 16 through January 19

On another note, CUSD 201 is resuming our strategic planning process. Please take a few moments to complete a survey using one of the following links: Strategic Plan Survey (English Version) or Strategic Plan Survey (Spanish Version). The information from the survey will inform the planning process. When completing the survey, please use a pre-COVID-19 lens.

Please read the entire communication for additional updates.

Hybrid Learning-Suspended

The District is suspending hybrid learning until January 19, 2021.

Remote Learning

Remote learning is continuing the week of December 14, 2020. Please use this link to view the plan.

Quarantine Information

The CDC has changed the number of days individuals are required to quarantine depending upon whether they test negative or are asymptomatic. The IDPH has not signed off on the new quarantine protocols. Our attorneys have advised the school district to continue to follow the IDPH guidelines.

The CUSD 201 COVID Update Center site has the current information about quarantining, testing, and other COVID-19 related concerns.

MEAL DISTRIBUTION FOR THE WEEK OF December 7, 2020

Meal pick-up is on Monday, December 7, 2020, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Westmont Junior High.

Meals are available free of charge to CUSD 201 families for children 18 and younger.

Parents will be given seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch.   Please use the drive off Oakwood in front of the Junior High School.  You do not need to exit your car; the food will be brought to you.  If you are unable to come to the Junior High at the designated time, please call 630-468-8121.

Please continue to follow the guidance of the health experts. Limit your trips away from home. Wear a mask, social distance, and wash your hands. A vaccine is on the horizon, which will allow us to combat COVID-19 more effectively.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
Superintendent
