January 29, 2021

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

The DCHD published the DCHD School Metrics Week 2 on Monday. DuPage County remains at a substantial level of transmission, but the metrics are improving. As of January 27, the seven-day positivity rate for Westmont is 5.10%, Hinsdale is 7.17%, Downers Grove is 4.89%, and Clarendon Hills is 5.67%. The average positivity rate for our community is 5.71%. The low positivity rate in our community and the safety protocols we have in place will allow CUSD 201 to remain hybrid for the Week of February 1st.

Our region of the state is now in Phase 4, Tier 1 mitigation. The new tier of mitigation does not change any of the protocols schools need to follow. Masks are still required, and students and staff will still need to self-certify and maintain six feet of social distancing.

High School sports can resume practicing and competitions while following the IDPH protocols for athletics. The High School will be sharing additional information with high school families.

Some area school districts will begin receiving the vaccine next week. The DCHD has not notified  CUSD 201 when to expect the vaccine. The vaccine distribution will be a slow process due to the number of people in Tier 1B. The DCHD will administer the vaccine as quickly as possible, but it will be several weeks before all individuals will be vaccinated.

Please read the entire communication for additional updates.

Hybrid Learning

The District has updated the Hybrid Learning Plan. Here is a link to the plan (CUSD 201 Hybrid Learning Plan). Also, each of the schools will be sending out additional information to school families. The District will update this document regularly. It is a good idea to revisit this document periodically, including the frequently asked questions.

Remote Learning

MEAL DISTRIBUTION FOR THE WEEK OF February 1, 2021

Meal pick-up is on Monday, February 1, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Westmont Junior High.

Meals are available free of charge to CUSD 201 families for children 18 and younger.

The District will provide seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch to parents.   Please use the drive off Oakwood in front of the Junior High School.  You do not need to exit your car, and the staff will bring the food to you.  If you are unable to come to the Junior High at the designated time, please call 630-468-8121.

The positivity rate remains low in our area, but we still need to be vigilant to slow the virus’s spread. Please continue to wear masks, social distance, and wash your hands.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
