February 19, 2021

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

I hope you and your family weathered the most recent blast of winter. Hopefully, spring is around the corner.

The DCHD has identified one of the COVID-19 variants in DuPage County. Please continue to practice the recommended mitigations; wear masks, social distancing, and hand washing. We need to continue to be diligent until more people receive the vaccine.

The DCHD published the DCHD School Metrics Week 5 on Monday. As of February 18th, the seven-day positivity rate for Westmont is 2.52%, Hinsdale is 3.71%, Downers Grove is 5.83%, and Clarendon Hills is 4.57%. The average positivity rate for our community is 4.16%. Our community’s low positivity rate and the safety protocols we have in place will allow CUSD 201 to remain hybrid for the Week of February 22nd.

The CDC has published guidelines for schools (CDC K-12 Operational Strategies). At the February 23 Board Meeting, the Administrative Team will discuss the implications of the guidance and teaching and learning plans during the fourth quarter.

Please read the entire communication for additional updates.

Hybrid Learning
The District has updated the Hybrid Learning Plan. Here is a link to the plan (CUSD 201 Hybrid Learning Plan). Also, each of the schools will be sending out additional information to school families. The District will update this document regularly. It is a good idea to revisit this document periodically, including the frequently asked questions.

Remote Learning
Please use this link to view the plan.

MEAL DISTRIBUTION FOR THE WEEK OF February 21, 2021

Meal pick-up is on Monday, February 22, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Westmont Junior High.

Meals are available free of charge to CUSD 201 families for children 18 and younger.

The District will provide parents with seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch.   Please use the drive off Oakwood in front of the Junior High School.  A CUSD 201 employee will bring the food to your car. If you are unable to come to the Junior High at the designated time, please call 630-468-8121.

The DCHD has indicated that it will direct 10% of the vaccine the health department receives to school districts. Hopefully, this will mean that teachers and staff in CSUD 201 will begin to receive the vaccine soon.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
Superintendent
