September 3, 2021

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

I hope everyone is looking forward to the holiday weekend.

Today, the Governor extended the deadline for  Executive Order 2021-20 compliance. District employees have until September 19 to receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine or to submit a negative test on a weekly basis.

The District works with Westway for busing services. Westway, like many transportation companies, is experiencing driver shortages. There are no substitute drivers, and if a driver calls off, a driver may have to handle more than one route. The doubling of routes will sometimes result in buses running late. Thank you for your patience as we work through this issue with Westway.

The District is asking Manning’s parents for your assistance for the end-of-the-day dismissal. If your child is a car rider, please do not start to line up in the car line before 2:45 p.m.. Forming the line at 2:45 p.m. will help to minimize the traffic that gathers on Naperville Road.

DuPage County is at a high level of transmission (DCHD COVID-19 Dashboard).  As of September 3, the seven-day positivity rate for Westmont is 4.66%, Hinsdale is 5.39%, Downers Grove is 5.33%, and Clarendon Hills is 3.89%. The average positivity rate for our community is 4.82%.  The new cases per 100,000 are over 100.

Please read the entire communication for additional information.

Quarantine:
Parents should keep children with COVID-19 symptoms at home. The students will need a negative COVID test or a note from a doctor to return to school. Students who report COVID-like symptoms while in school will be sent home, as will any siblings living in the same home.

The District will be following the CDC Guidance for Schools. Social distancing will be 3 feet. The CDC defines close contact with a person who is positive for COVID-19 and less than 3 feet apart for more than 15 minutes. If a student is fully vaccinated and comes in contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19, the student does not need to quarantine. An unvaccinated student who comes in contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19 will need to quarantine for 14 days. The quarantine period can be reduced to 10 days with a release from the DuPage County Health Department.

Travel:
If you are traveling during the holiday weekend, please consult the CDC Travel Guidelines. The CDC recommends unvaccinated individuals quarantine after returning from a trip. The quarantine recommendation applies to both domestic and international trips. Unvaccinated individuals need to quarantine a minimum of seven days with a negative COVID test or ten days if they do not get a COVID test.

Please remember that this is a very fluid situation. The CDC may update its guidelines throughout the year. As the CDC changes its guidance, the District will adapt ours.

National School Lunch Program
The National School Lunch Program is still operating under an emergency order. All students are eligible for a free breakfast and lunch regardless of income level.

Vaccine
If you are not vaccinated already, please consider receiving the vaccine. You can find Information regarding the Covid-19 Vaccine on the DCHD website.

Please enjoy the holiday weekend.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
