May 27, 2022

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

This week's headlines were filled with news about the tragic event at Robb Elementary School in Texas. Please keep the Uvalde school community in your thoughts. It is frustrating and sad that we are confronted with another senseless school shooting.

CUSD 201 has crisis plans in place for each of our schools. We work closely with the Westmont Police Department and Fire Department in developing our plans. Each summer, we review our procedures with our emergency responders and update the plan as needed. Each of our schools has drills coordinated and observed by the police and fire departments.

One of the most important things we can do to keep our schools safe is to be vigilant and report any suspicious or threatening information. At the bottom of the District's web page is a link to an anonymous and confidential hotline. If you or your child see or hear anything you believe the school district needs to be aware of, please report it.

DuPage is now at a  high level of transmission. The number of new cases per 100,000 for our area is 322, and for DuPage County, it is 341. The CDC recommends that masks be worn indoors, but masks are not required.

Please read the entire communication for additional information.

Weekly COVID-19 Testing:
The District will not be conducting COVID-19 testing next week.

National School Lunch Program:
The National School Lunch Program is still operating under an emergency order. All students are eligible for a free breakfast and lunch regardless of income level.

Meals will not be provided over the summer. There will be information on the school district's webpage that will provide families with resources if they need assistance with meals over the summer.

Vaccine:
If you are not vaccinated already, please consider receiving the vaccine. You can find information regarding the Covid-19 Vaccine on the DCHD website.

Thank you to our amazing staff for a wonderful school year. Thank you to our school families for your patience and support throughout the year. Have a great summer.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
