Dear CUSD 201 Families,

Congratulations to Westmont High School Principal Jack Baldermann! Jack is the recipient of the Golden Apple Award for School Leadership. Over one hundred Illinois school leaders were nominated for the award. On Thursday, the Golden Apple Committee came to Westmont High School to announce Mr. Baldermann as this year’s recipient.

COVID-19 is definitely on the rise in our community and county.  The number of new cases per 100,000 for our area is 490, and for DuPage County, it is 454. Dupage County is at a medium level of transmission.

The District is seeing an increase in positive cases in our schools. In the last two weeks, CUS 201 has had ten positive cases among staff members and 13 cases among students.

If your child has COVID-like symptoms, please keep them home from school. If a child tests positive for COVID-19, they should stay home for five days. Upon returning to school, they should wear a mask for an additional five days.

We are almost to the end of the school year. We want to end on a healthy note.

Please read the entire communication for additional information.

Weekly COVID-19 Testing:
CUSD 201 is offering optional weekly COVID-19 testing through Northshore Labs. There is no cost for the test. If you want your child to participate, use this link: CUSD 201 COVID Testing. Testing takes place every Monday.

National School Lunch Program:
The National School Lunch Program is still operating under an emergency order. All students are eligible for a free breakfast and lunch regardless of income level.

Vaccine:
If you are not vaccinated already, please consider receiving the vaccine. You can find information regarding the Covid-19 Vaccine on the DCHD website.

Thank you for your continued support of our school district.

Take care,

Kevin Carey
