Parent Update June 18th

June 18, 2021

Dear CUSD 201 Families,

I hope you are enjoying the summer. It has been nice to see the return of Westmont Cruisin’ Nights on Thursdays.

The Governor announced that Illinois has transitioned to phase 5 of the Restore Illinois plan. School districts and I am sure many parents are asking what this will mean for schools in the fall. Will students need to wear masks? Will schools need to have students socially distanced in the classrooms and at lunch?

The answers to these questions and many more we do not know right now. The IDPH and ISBE have not provided the school districts with the guidance we will need to follow in the fall.

Next week, the ISBE and IDPH are having meetings with the school districts, and we are hoping we will get some of the answers to our questions.

CUSD 201 is planning to have full in-person learning next school year. Once we know the guidelines we need to follow, we will communicate them to our school families.

This summer, the district has a task force meeting to examine our two elementary schools and determine how best to use our facilities and resources to meet our students’ current and long-term academic needs. If you want to stay up to date on the work of this committee, please visit the district website (CUSD 201 Task Force).

Take care,

Kevin Carey
Superintendent
