General

Starting next week, we will be checking all cars for permits.  Please see Mrs. Grahn in the front office if you need to purchase a permit.

We will be distributing 2023 yearbooks again during lunches today. If you did not already order a book, we have a limited quantity available to purchase. Please bring $50 cash or check to Westmont High School and see us in the commons during lunches today. If you need to purchase a book after today, please see Mrs. Mahmoud.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, please join us for our VIRTUAL College and Financial Aid Night from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This event will be held virtually and is especially important for seniors. The FAFSA opens in December for eligible seniors, and it is important to get the application submitted as soon as possible for maximum financial consideration.

Westmont High School will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT exam on Wednesday, October 11th from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The PSAT/NMSQT can qualify participating junior students for the National Merit Scholar Program. All interested students should sign up with Ms. Grahn in the main office with a $20 fee by TODAY - Friday, September 22nd. Cash or check made out to Westmont High School will be accepted, spots are limited.

NACAC will be hosting a college fair at McCormick Place on September 30th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a great opportunity for students of any age to connect face-to-face with college representatives from hundreds of colleges and universities. You can register for this event online or see your counselor for more information.

Sentinels:  Would you like to hone your leadership skills?  The IHSA will be hosting a Student Leadership Conference on November 13.   Westmont can send up to 8 students to attend this wonderful opportunity. If you are interested, let Kappy know before October 15.

Juniors & Seniors!

Still not sure what you plan on doing after graduation? How would you like to see what over 400 colleges and universities from the US, Canada, and the UK--as well as technical schools and the military--have to offer? On Saturday, September 30, the Chicago National College Fair will be held at the McCormick Center and AACC along with WHS is sponsoring a bus to the event, provided we have at least 20 students willing to attend. If you're interested in going, fill out the form that is posted in your Google Classroom for English and bring the permission slip to Ms. Van Erden, room 113, no later than Wednesday 9/27. The bus is free, as is the entrance to the facility; you only need money for lunch. What a deal! For any student who did not get a refund from last year's canceled dance event, please see Ms. Van Erden in room 113, and she will gladly refund your ticket

Clubs

Westmont has a new club for any students of Latin heritage and anyone who wishes to know more about Latin culture.  It's called La Casa and our meetings will be on Mondays after school in Mr. Landreth.  Please see Mr. Landreth for more information.

Yearbook Club will meet on Thursday, September 28 right after school in Ms. Jacobs' room until 3:45 pm. If you signed up during the club fair during lunch, please make sure you plan to attend. We would also love to welcome any other new members to our staff! If you have questions, see Mrs. Mahmoud or Ms. Jacobs.
