General

This Wednesday will be our first Universal Testing day for all freshmen, sophomores and juniors.

Results from these tests will be used to determine individual student strengths and weaknesses. We are very serious about your learning, so please be prepared and give your best effort.

Please arrive at school on time - BEFORE 8am. Students will report to their 1st period class. Please bring 2 sharpened pencils, a calculator and a snack. ALL junior students must bring their Chromebook fully charged. This is a mandatory student attendance day for all freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Students who are not in attendance on Wednesday will be scheduled for make-ups on Thursday and Friday.

On Wednesday, September 27, 2023, please join us for our VIRTUAL College and Financial Aid Night from 6:30-8:00 p.m. This event will be held virtually and is especially important for seniors. The FAFSA opens in December for eligible seniors, and it is important to get the application submitted as soon as possible for maximum financial consideration.

.NACAC will be hosting a college fair at McCormick Place on September 30th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a great opportunity for students of any age to connect face-to-face with college representatives from hundreds of colleges and universities. You can register for this event online or see your counselor for more information.

Sentinels:  Would you like to hone your leadership skills?  The IHSA will be hosting a Student Leadership Conference on November 13.   Westmont can send up to 8 students to attend this wonderful opportunity.

If you are interested, let Kappy know before October 15.

Juniors & Seniors!

Still not sure what you plan on doing after graduation? How would you like to see what over 400 colleges and universities from the US, Canada, and the UK--as well as technical schools and the military--have to offer? On Saturday, September 30, the Chicago National College Fair will be held at the McCormick Center and AACC along with WHS is sponsoring a bus to the event, provided we have at least 20 students willing to attend. If you're interested in going, fill out the form that is posted in your Google Classroom for English and bring the permission slip to Ms. Van Erden, room 113, no later than tomorrow 9/27. The bus is free, as is entrance to the facility; you only need money for lunch. What a deal! For any student who did not get a refund from last years canceled dance event, please see Ms. Van Erden in room 113, and she will gladly refund your ticket
