General

Sentinels, how does celebrating the start of winter break by visiting the Christkindl Market at Daley Plaza and shopping along State Street sound? The next Geography Club trip will be on Friday, December 22nd, for our annual visit to Chicago's Christkindl Market and a chance to get some last minute holiday shopping done downtown. Join your friends as we kick off winter break and celebrate the holidays on this trip! Permission slips are available in Mr. Landreth's room. All permission slips must be turned in by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15 to guarantee a spot on this field trip. See Mr. Landreth or Mr. Dunne with any questions.

Attention all Sentinel Buddies: 

All permission slips for our holiday shopping trip are due ASAP and no later than Friday, 12/1. A SIGNED permission slip MUST be turned in. THIS IS A FIRST COME - FIRST SERVE TRIP, so it is recommended that you turn it in immediately. Only the first 18 students will be able to attend due to transportation issues. See Mrs. Philgren with questions or concerns.

Any Sentinel student that is interested in traveling to Japan over Spring Break 2025 with Geography Club should talk to Mr. Landreth or Mr. Dunne for more information. Interested travelers can also check the Geography Club Google Classroom for additional information.

It's the last week to sign up to perform and compete in the 2023 Talent Show!! Can you dance? Tell jokes? Play music? Juggle? The Talent Show is looking for fun, entertaining, or funny acts to perform in the show on Friday, December 15th. You can win gift card prizes for performing! Please look for a talent show flyer hanging around the school and scan the QR code to fill out the short application form.  Please sign up by the end of THIS WEEK!!!

Clubs

Last night, the Scholastic Bowl team traveled to Ridgewood for another conference showdown. On the JV level, freshman Mateo Cabral had a very impressive first night, answering 24 out of 48 tossups, with 7 powers. Keshav handled captaining responsibilities very well and had several tossups, and Jay also had several tossups and did a great job guiding the team to two victories on the night. Charlie, Sam, and Anna had several contributions on bonuses. JV is 2-2 on the year so far.

On the Varsity front, the Sentinels continued their winning streak, as Juniors Cooper Rathburn, Zoe Abington, Riyah Varghese and Justas Bobrevicius paced the team to a 360-195 victory. In the second match, Senior Faisal Abulaila had his best match ever, with several tossups and many contributions on the bonuses. Charlie McCormick also had several answers on bonuses, giving the team a complete team win. Varsity is now 4-2.

Yearbook Club will meet on Thursday, November 30 after school in Ms. Jacobs' room. This is an important training meeting, so please make plans to attend. See Mrs. Mahmoud or Ms. Jacobs if you cannot attend.

Athletics

Last night, the girls basketball team had their first home game of the season. The Sentinels dominated Christ the King to win 63-37. Eva Papish scored 40 points, and Payeton Pickens added 17 points and 10 assists. The team is now 3-1 on the season. The Sentinels play at home against Cristo Rey this evening: Varsity at 6:00 pm, JV at 7:30.
