WHS and WJHS students had the incredible opportunity to attend the Tribute to Valor Assembly , where they heard powerful stories from American heroes who embody courage, integrity, and resilience.
The event was hosted by Tribute to Valor Foundation board member and legendary entertainer Tony Orlando, along with Jim Palmersheim, former pilot and President of the Foundation, CUSD 201 Superintendent Jack Baldermann, and Mayor of New Lenox Tim Baldermann. The inspiring program encouraged students to reflect on the questions “Who am I?” and “What is true patriotism?”
.
Students listened to moving presentations from retired SMSgt Israel “DT” Del Toro Jr., Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient and Pat Tillman Award winner, and retired CW5 Gary Linfoot, Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross recipient. Both veterans shared powerful messages of perseverance, sacrifice, and hope—encouraging students to never give up and to live with purpose and gratitude.
.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Tribute to Valor Foundation, our local veterans, and all who helped make this inspiring and deeply meaningful event possible.
