Shelby Storey - Professional Cooking, Baking & Service
Shelby Storey has been named a student of the month for February. Shelby is a senior at Westmont High School and a student in our Professional Cooking, Baking, & Service program.
In her nomination, Chef Brittney McLawhorn, PCBS teacher and coordinator, stated, “Shelby, a second-year student in the PCBS program, exemplifies leadership, professionalism, and positivity. Last year she competed on the ProStart management team and earned an impressive second place at the state level, missing the top spot by only a few points. This achievement reflects her strong skills, dedication, and commitment to excellence. She will proudly represent the team again this year in the management competition.
Shelby brings a consistently positive attitude to class and has a natural ability to make others feel welcome, especially new students who may feel unsure or nervous. Her friendly and supportive nature helps foster a strong sense of community. She demonstrates a strong work ethic and independence, completing tasks thoroughly with minimal direction, and approaches learning with genuine curiosity and enthusiasm.
After high school, Shelby plans to continue pursuing culinary and pastry arts while serving in the National Guard, a goal that speaks to her drive, discipline, and commitment to personal growth. She is known for greeting her teachers with a smile and taking the time to ask how they are doing, and even on challenging days, she maintains a positive outlook. Shelby is not only a talented and motivated student but also a kind, uplifting presence in our program.”
