General

Juniors: After school, SAT class will be in Mrs. Pergande's room 138 today.

Monday, and Mr. Palmer’s room # 115 on Tuesday. Drop-ins are welcome.

All students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher are invited to apply to the National Honor Society.  NHS is a National organization to recognize students who demonstrate Scholarship Character, Leadership and Service in High School.  Members have many opportunities to give back to the community and step up in leadership roles in and out of school.  Members also have access to various scholarship opportunities and awards to recognize their service.  The application period is currently open. A link to the application was emailed to qualifying applicants or can be found on the WHS webpage. Applications are completed online and are due TODAY March 2, 2020, at 4:00 pm

Join us on March 6, 2020, for our annual spring blood drive.All donations are utilized by local hospitals and can save up to three lives.  If you are 16 years or older, you can participate by donating blood on March 6th in the WHS auditorium.  If you are under 16, you can encourage a friend or relative to donate.  Sign up online via the link available on the WHS website. 

This announcement is for all the senior men!   Are you interested in earning a FREE tux rental for Prom?    How about earning other PRIZES?    Rock a tux at school ONE day and you could be Glitzíng and Glamming your way to Prom in style this year for FREE!  See Señorita Lott in room 125 for more information.  

This year's Coaches vs. Cancer Faculty Basketball Game is being played on Wednesday, March 11th at 7pm.  There is no cost to attend, however donations will be accepted.  The participants can't guarantee that you'll see good basketball but they can guarantee that you'll have a good time.

Counseling

All students are invited to attend the *NEW* Spring Suburban Chicago National College Fair on Saturday, March 14 at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Exhibit Hall F, in Rosemont, IL from 11 am to 3 pm. This event is a great way for students to connect with over 400 colleges and universities as well as attend educational workshops to learn more about the college search process

A representative from visiting universities/colleges will meet in the Commons. Juniors and Seniors interested in attending these meetings should sign up through Naviance. Please remember to check in with your teacher first. List with all upcoming visits will be posted in front of the Counseling Office.

Clubs

Congratulations to Anna Tikhiy in placing 3rd (out of 15) in the Advanced Word Processing contest at the BPA State Leadership conference on Saturday. This also qualifies her for the National Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. in May. Great job Anna! 

Athletics

“All girls interested in playing softball this spring should meet in the gym after school TODAY  Monday, March 2, ready to play. Tryouts will be held on Monday and Tuesday. If you are unable to make it, please see Coach Zapinski in the gym at 3pm on Monday.”

All Spring Athletes and a parent need to attend our Spring Sports Kick-off on March 12 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Congratulations to the girls Track and Field team who had an outstanding meet on Friday at Addison Trail.  Many of the girls smashed their goals, several had career best times. 

Kudos to top finishers: Delaney Dunlap in the high jump, Lizzy Szynal in the 3200, Cate McDaniels in the 300, and Mikayla Hickey in the 800

Congrats to Jimmy Gniadek who hit 11 out of 15 shots and Caleb Kleinz who hit 10 of 15 shots to finish in 1st and 2nd in the regional 3 point shooting contest.  Both will advance to the sectionals contest this Friday at Genoa-Kingston.
