Community Engagement and Facilities Planning

If approved, the new CUSD 201 elementary school will be a center of learning and excellence by the community, for the community. Feedback and input from community members have shaped important details of this project, including the referendum amount, project priorities, and building location.

Below are materials from a few of the many community engagement sessions that have taken place over the past year. Thank you to the entire Westmont community for your ongoing questions and input!

Summer 2024 Community Engagement Sessions

In the spring and summer of 2024, we engaged the community for feedback to determine the best path forward with our district’s facility needs. We received feedback from 471 members of the community through in-person presentations, two online surveys, and a scientific phone survey on what improvements they would like to see to the school buildings and how they would like us to fund those improvements. The clear consensus was to build a new elementary school rather than enter into expensive stop-gap renovations at Miller and Manning.

Town Halls

Prior to the November referendum, we hosted a series of 6 town hall meetings open to all members of the community to ask questions, provide feedback and tour Manning School.
You can view the town hall videos on our YouTube page HERE.

Location Committee Meeting

Members of the community were invited to participate in a location committee to voice their perspectives on the elementary school location.
