Proposed Location
Our community expressed a strong preference for the location of the new elementary school, and we are thrilled to share that—after extensive collaboration and the formation of a location committee—the consensus choice is adjacent to Ty Warner Park! .
To determine the best site, the district partnered with local experts to evaluate multiple locations within our boundaries. Five potential sites were carefully assessed based on key criteria, including financial feasibility, minimizing disruption to student learning, neighborhood traffic impact, and avoiding the use of eminent domain, which would displace residents.
As the options narrowed to two, a dedicated location committee, composed of members from the CUSD 201 community, was formed to ensure transparency and broad input. The overwhelming consensus favored 801, 807, and 825 Blackhawk Avenue, a prime location next to the beautiful Ty Warner Park.
Even more exciting, CUSD 201 has the opportunity to partner with Mr. Ty Warner, a visionary entrepreneur and generous benefactor.
Why This Location is Ideal:
✅ No eminent domain issues—no community members will be displaced.
✅ No disruptions to student learning during construction.
✅ A seamless connection between all three district schools.
✅ Access to nearly 50 acres of parks and recreational space.
This exceptional location will not only provide an outstanding educational environment but will also strengthen connections among all three district schools—Westmont High School, Westmont Junior High School, and the new CUSD 201 elementary school. The close proximity will foster collaboration among educators and students across all grade levels.
With the passing of the April 1st referendum, this new elementary school will stand as a source of pride for CUSD 201 and the Westmont community for generations to come!
